Everything about renting a box.
Quick answers from riders who've packed a few hundred bikes.
Rentals start at $100.00, with each day charged at the bike box's daily rate. There's no security deposit and no hold on your card.
Your rental fee is charged in full when you book, and that's the only upfront charge, with no deposit and no hold. Your card is securely saved, and per the rental agreement it's only charged afterward if the bike box comes back damaged, needs cleaning, is returned late, or isn't returned. Any such charges are capped at the bike box's replacement cost.
Cancel 48+ hours before pickup for a full refund; within 48 hours, a 50% refund. No-shows are not refunded. If your plans change, reach out and we're happy to help you move your dates instead.
Pickup is in Centennial or Lakewood. Each box has its own pickup spot in the Denver area; you'll see it on the map when you search. Once you book, your confirmation email and booking page show the exact address, any pickup notes, and your host's number so you can text to set a time.
Text your host. Their number is on your booking page and in your confirmation email, with a Text button that starts the message for you. A day or two ahead works best; same for the return.
You'll return the bike box by 5:00 PM on the agreed-upon date listed on your reservation (usually 1-2 days after you get back from your trip). Need extra time? Just let us know, and we're flexible if we have availability.
Late returns are charged at your bike box's daily rental rate for each day past your return date. If you know you'll be late, contact us ahead of time and we'll do our best to work with you.
A bike box is a hard-shell travel case designed to protect your bicycle during air travel. Airlines require bikes to be packed in a box or case, and a hard case gives you the best protection against the rough handling of baggage systems.
Our cases fit most standard road bikes, gravel bikes, and mountain bikes. If you have an unusually large frame (60cm+) or a non-standard bike (tandem, recumbent, e-bike), contact us first and we can advise on fit.
Our bike boxes are built tough, but travel can be unpredictable. If damage occurs, let us know right away. Minor scuffs are normal and won't be an issue. Significant damage or structural breaks may result in a repair or replacement fee, and we'll walk you through the options.
Every rental includes the hard-case bike box, a quick packing walkthrough from your host at pickup, and text support while you travel.
On United, Delta, American, Southwest and Alaska a boxed bike checks as a normal bag with no oversize fee. Frontier charges a flat $100 bike fee each way. With a bike inside the box weighs more than 50 lb, so most carriers add an overweight fee. The full breakdown, with links to each airline's policy, is on our flying page.
Almost. The box is 106.5 linear inches, which clears the 115-inch limit at the big carriers and the 109-inch limit at Frontier. JetBlue caps bikes at 80 linear inches and will not take it. Spirit is no longer flying.
Pedals off, handlebars turned sideways, rear derailleur padded, and no CO2 cartridges. Your host will walk you through it at pickup, and the flying page has a short checklist you can read on the way to the airport.
